On 18 September 2025, the Meierijstad municipal council unanimously approved the redevelopment plan for the centre of Veghel.
The approved “Centrumplan Veghel” outlines a major transformation of the town centre over the next ten years. Key elements include the construction of 500 to 600 residential units, a more compact and vibrant retail core, and the replacement of large surface-level parking areas with residential towers featuring underground parking. A multi-storey parking garage with 400 spaces will be constructed near the Albert Heijn supermarket, while a free parking facility for 100 cars will be located on the edge of the centre.
The municipality Meierijstad is investing €20 million in the redevelopment, with financial planning secured through 2035 to ensure long-term execution of all components. The plan has received broad support from local stakeholders, including Centrummanagement Veghel, property owners, and the business community. The council also emphasized the importance of affordable housing and increased greenery in the area.
